Caring Comfort Hearts Craft Day
Caring Comfort Hearts Craft DayCaring Comfort Hearts Craft Day
Comanche County Hospital hosted its first craft day with the children of our employees! We are starting our very own comfort carts. We have named our project Caring Comforting Hearts after CCH. Our carts will be partially filled with loving items made with loving hands to comfort patients and families, as well as other items they may need during their stay. We started our craft day with a prayer circle around our first cart and explained to the children why we were doing it and how their role in this project would be meaningful to those in need. We crafted, giggled and snacked and a great time was had by all!
We ended our day by giving each child a small notebook and pencil and telling them to write it in each night before bed. We told them to write down someone or something they want to pray for or something that makes them happy.
The idea behind our cart project was the result of my personal experience a few years ago at Wesley Medical Center. My sister in-law and I were there with a loved one and were introduced to one of their carts by a beautiful, vibrant nurse who was the brainchild behind their carts. It was one of the kindest moments I have experienced, and I have never forgotten her or her love towards us in our time of need. I feel like this is a pay it forward project and my hope is that other hospitals and care facilities take it and run with the idea.
